Suffolk One College

Suffolk One is an inclusive Sixth Form College located in Ipswich, Suffolk. The College offers range of Advance levels, BTEC Diploma courses, GCSE re-sits and courses in Foundation Learning. The College aims to “develop an inclusive and inspirational learning centre that sits in the heart of a collaborative learning community where all talents and achievements are equally valued."

Engineering at Suffolk One

The Engineering department at One offers the BTEC Extended Diploma Level 2 and Level 3. Some of the subjects that the course offers are Engineering Product Design; Microcontroller Systems (Incorporating Robotics and Programming); Computer Aided Design (CAD); Fluid Power Systems (Pneumatics and Hydraulics); Static and Dynamic Mechanical Principles; Electricity and Electronic Principles; Engineering Materials and Manufacturing Processes.

Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems are an important part of many modern engineering products and systems. Students at One Engineering are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of how Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems operate. They need to use a computer-aided design (CAD) software to create circuit diagrams of pneumatic and hydraulic systems and then simulate their function before gaining practical experience of assembling and testing a physical system.

Why I chose the Automation Studio™

Having explored the Automation Studio™ Online Videos and the recommendation from BTEC awarding body, I believe that Automation Studio™ has all the ingredients needed to equip our students with the right knowledge and skills towards their future career. With Automation Studio™, our students can now create Pneumatic and Hydraulic circuit diagrams to BS ISO industry standard. It will also provide the students the means of simulating the circuits so that they can analyse the circuits further.
